Sydney FC are steaming towards the Premiers Plate, boasting a 14-1-1 record and sitting 13 points clear of the field with a game in hand. They have won their last three against the Victory, Roar and Mariners by a combined 7-0.
Western Sydney have turned a slight corner over the past month to keep their faint finals hopes alive. Eighth-placed Wanderers are still five points adrift of the top-six but they have picked up two wins and a draw in their last three. Last week they hammered Adelaide 5-2 at home with Mitchell Duke scoring twice.
Wanderers’ fast start to the 2019-20 season included a 1-0 home win over Sydney FC – the defending champs’ only loss of the season so far. It was also just WSW’s second win in the last 18 Sydney derbies.
