The Eagles and Pies meet for the second time this season, with West Coast holding sway in recent head to head meetings and coming into the match with the better form. The home side brushed aside Freo by a whopping 91 points in the Derby last round and have won 8 of their past 10 games to climb to second on the ladder and look in ominous form. The Pies on the other hand are faltering and have lost their past two games. Last round’s four point loss to the Hawks came after Collingwood had a three goal lead in the final term, only to be mowed down by an out of form Hawthorn side.

West Coast were 22 point winners in round 3 this season in a game where Collingwood came out of the blocks firing. The Pies led by 11 points at quarter time, but a six goal second term by the Eagles got them going, with Jamie Cripps booting four goals and Josh Kennedy and Dom Sheed snaring three apiece.

The Pies have played just twice at Optus Stadium for a win and a loss, with that loss coming to the Eagles in last season’s qualifying final by 16 points. The Pies have been poor at covering the handicap this season at just 5-10, while the Eagles are a more respectable 8-7. The Wolf has the Eagles streets ahead of the Pies at present and they should have no trouble account for the black and whites, who are desperately out of form.
