Finals might be out of the question, but the Swans should be able to keep their faint pulse alive this week with a couple of key players back in the fold

Tom McCartin and Callum Mills are both a chance at returning from lengthy layoffs, two big ins for a side struggling for leadership and class on the field.

Buddy Franklin and Issac Heeney’s absence was felt down the stretch against the Lions last week, but there were plenty of positives to take away from the close defeat.

John Longmire’s side made the most of their limited time inside 50, also winning the battle in the midfield quite comfortably when it came to tackles.

Some familiar faces are also set to return at West Coast with Jeremy McGovern, Tom Barass, and Liam Duggan all a serious chance at playing this week.

The Eagles suffered an 11th straight loss at the hands of Adelaide before the bye, and history isn’t exactly on their side with West Coast’s last win at the SCG coming way back in 1999.

A line of this magnitude between two serious clubs does warrant careful consideration, though.

West Coast has been losing by big margins, but Sydney hasn’t exactly made a habit of beating up on lesser sides – as we saw a month ago in a three-point win against North.

With some star power back on the paddock, the chances of this being a genuine contest aren’t as crazy as it might seem.
