The last five games between the Saints and the Suns have been decided by nine points or less, and based on what we’ve seen from these two sides so far, it wouldn’t be surprising if we’re treated to another classic.

The Saints ran out comfortable 69-point winners last week in their ambush over Hawthorn, a game that was basically played inside St Kilda’s forward half as Ben King, Tim Membrey, Brad Hill, and Jade Gresham all dominated with four goals each.

The Suns also enjoyed a comfortable day at Metricon in their surprising 30-point win over undefeated Carlton.

Stuart Dew’s side put their poor Round 3 performance against GWS behind them in a convincing display that was again highlighted by Mabior Chol, Noah Anderson, and Touk Miller.

The jury is still out on these two sides, but based on recent history, it’s hard to reason with the Saints being favoured by over three goals.

St Kilda has been outstanding in the fourth quarter so far this season, but they’ve had to rely on some mammoth performances from King to get the job done.

By the same token, you never know what you’re getting with the Suns week to week, especially on the road, or this early in the season.

The Saints have held on to win each of their last four encounters against Gold Coast, but there’s been a lot to like about the Suns’ defensive efforts over the first month.

Dew’s side ranks fourth in fewest goals allowed, while they’ve also covered in three of their four games so far.

If Chol can get on the end of a few, this might turn into the game of the round.
