It’s groundhog day for Carlton fans. Yet again, when put in a must-win game, the Blues were found wanting against the Giants in Round 15 and, for a seventh-straight year, won’t be playing finals footy. It’s a bitter pill to swallow when you consider the talent on their list and the so-called ‘revival’ under David Teague. It’ll be hard for them to get up for this one knowing their season is done. While on paper they edge the young Swans, who knows from a mental perspective what Blues side will turn up at Metricon.

For the Bloods, it’s the complete opposite. A feeling of optimism has swept through the club after some brilliant performances from their young charges against the odds. With five of their most important players out (Callum Mills, Lance Franklin, Dane Rampe, Isaac Heeney, Sam Naismith) against Melbourne, John Longmire’s side were far too good against a side that were similarly facing a must-win situation. Don’t discount the Swans causing their third upset in five weeks against the Blues.
